........congratulations, you've made it past the jump, now you can recieve your updated "UP"DATE and what it can do for you.
As you might have guessed, this update concerns the movie "UP" hence "UP"date.......There is a lot to say about this movieso i will create a point of reference with which to tether myself and my myriad of feelings I have towards this movie. again, if you know what "UP" is about, this is a totally relavant pun.
"UP" pretty much takes its cue from Ibsen's classic. You know which one I'm talking about. The cue is the end of the play rightat the moment when Nora leaves Torvald and is all like "ME LEAVING YOU SHATTERS THIS INVISIBLE PRISON" (note: not direct quote). This was perhaps the most significant benchmark for modern feminism as well as postmodern lit major undergrad bullshitism."UP" pretty much takes that theme, turns it on its head, drains the blood, dismembers it and sends the extremities and fleshyparts to various locations in the U.S., rendering only SOME of them to kosher. There was a rabbi present at some of these locations, specifically New Jersey.
So if you can imagine that, you pretty much have "UP". Symbolically only though.
In all honesty, "UP" has nothing to do with Ibsen's classic play "A Doll's House". The protagonist's wife DOES in fact go away...butshe doesn't leave in search of self-fulfilment......SHE DIES.....WALKING UP A FUCKING HILL TO HAVE AN ADORABLE PICNIC WITH HER ADORABLE HUSBAND.......(SPOILER ALERT: you just read a spoiler....I feel bad that I didn't tell you sooner....sorry..............)
Another parallel with Ibsen, the guy floats his HOUSE with a bunch of balloons to South America in search of adventure. I SAID HOUSE.So that's where you'll see the connection I guess.
But enough with comparisons. To conclude, "UP" both tore my heart out AND warmed it in simulcast. STEREO. So now all of you visual typesare like "YO SO DOES THAT MEAN WE'RE HAVING WARM HEART FOR DINNER???? SOUNDS TASTY!!" And to you I would say "yes, my warm heart is for dinner. enjoy......but remember: everything in moderation".
